Awajishima Onion and Fortune-Maki Festival" - Not rice cakes, but "onions" are rolled!
What is an onion roll, not a rice cake roll?
Onions, a specialty of Awaji Island, are sprinkled instead of rice cakes.
This year, oranges and lettuce were also added!
When sowing onions, wrap them in cushioning material for safety before sowing!
Regular rice cakes will be given away, but there are also onions with vouchers for Awaji Island souvenirs such as onion dressing and burgers, so be sure to go for the onions!
In addition, Awaji puppet dances will be performed by staff members dressed as puppeteers.
This is a New Year's Day event filled with good fortune.
Participation is of course free of charge, so please come and join us!
