A new photo spot "#Onion Sando" with an image of an onion has appeared at the Uzu-no-Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum (Fukurauchi, Minami-Awaji City), a tourist facility on Awaji Island built on a mountain overlooking the Naruto Straits. Uzunokuni Minami-Awaji, the facility's operator, has devised a variety of projects in addition to selling gourmet products in order to promote the attractiveness of onions, a specialty of Awaji Island. The "Onion Catcher," in which onions are used as prizes for the "crane game" at the facility, and the "O-Onion®," an objet d'art in the shape of an onion, are highly popular.
The "#Onion Sando" appeared as part of such efforts. It was originally the kitchen portion of the "Awaji Island Onion Kitchen Car" that was active during the Corona disaster. It sold ramen noodles, sweets, and other items, and was popular with many people. Now that the series of disasters has ended, it has been reborn as a new photo spot "to carry on that spirit and bring smiles to the faces of many customers in the future. The "#Tamanegi" is approximately 2.5 meters wide and 3 meters high. When photographed, it looks as if it is holding up a giant onion that has been split in half. In addition, a tusk and a photo prop with the inscription "It's an onion" are permanently installed. Since it is located indoors, visitors can take pictures even in the rain. The staff in charge of the project says, "We wanted to create a new photo spot that would make people want to come inside and take pictures. The person in charge of the project is calling for visitors to come and take pictures with the "# Onion Sando" and enjoy a fun day that will bring smiles to the faces of all generations, from children to adults.
