Wig and old onion! South Awaji
Wednesday, September 4, 2024 Asahi Shimbun
A photo shoot wearing a wig resembling an onion, a specialty of Awaji Island, is popular at the Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum in Minami-Awaji City.
The wig, dubbed an "onion wig," is orange all over, with the top of the head resembling a pigtail.
According to the museum, the wig was created in 2015 as a PR wig for staff to wear. The following year, in 2004, a giant onion object was created as a photo spot with Naruto Strait in the background, and the wig gradually became popular when it was rented out. The company later added wigs for babies and dogs, and now there is a long waiting list for the wigs.
Hisanobu Watanabe, 22, who came with his family from Ehime Prefecture, took pictures, saying, "It looks like Awaji Island, and it will be a good memory of my trip.
The museum is closed on Tuesdays.
